On Thursday, 29 August, the AVPI together with AVPI Knowledge Partner, Australia-Vietnam Leadership Dialogue hosted an event at the AVPI Front Door.
The AVPI was excited to welcome 20 delegates from Australia and Vietnam, selected for the 2024 Australia-Vietnam Young Leadership Dialogue (AVYLD), to the AVPI Front Door.
AVYLD is a unique five-day residential program for emerging young leaders from Australia and Vietnam, designed around key UN SDGs. This year’s dialogue, hosted in Melbourne for the first time, included a visit to the AVPI Front Door on Day 4 of the program.
The session began with a conversation with Sir Peter Cosgrove, AVYLD Patron, which was moderated by Thao Griffiths, Head of Public Policy for Vietnam at Meta and AVYLD Board Advisor. Sir Peter Cosgrove shared his perspectives on the challenges of leadership and strategies for addressing complex problems in a rapidly changing environment.
Following this, delegates heard from Dominique Wiehahn, Associate Director, Asia Strategy & Impact at RMIT University, AVPI Lead, and AVYLD 2021 alumna. Dominique highlighted the results from many of the AVPI’s activities, emphasising the ongoing call for stronger people-to-people links and greater cultural literacy among Australian and Vietnamese companies.
With the momentum for Australia-Vietnam relations growing, she celebrated how the connections fostered by the AVYLD cohort directly address these needs. She also mentioned how the upcoming AVPI conference will also provide a platform for young leaders to step forward and make a meaningful impact.
The AVPI is proud to be a distinguished partner for this year’s program. Thank you to our Knowledge Partner, Australia-Vietnam Leadership Dialogue, for the opportunity to collaborate.
