On Tuesday, 24 October 2023, the Australia Vietnam Policy Institute (AVPI) was delighted to host the first roundtable of the second AVPI roundtable series in Perth.

Hosted together with AVPI Knowledge Partner, Perth USAsia Centre, the first roundtable of this second series focused on the future potential of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) and the role of education in enhancing connections between Australia and Vietnam.

This roundtable featured Professor Alec Cameron, Vice-Chancellor and President of RMIT University, alongside a diverse group of professionals from Perth in education, government, and industry. Together, the participants engaged in discussions about the opportunities that exist for Australia and Vietnam to further strengthen their bilateral relations, particularly through education.

There were some great questions for Professor Cameron about RMIT’s experience in establishing and growing RMIT University Vietnam, as well as fresh perspectives on what more needs to be done to further develop bilateral education links. International education plays such an important role in building cross-cultural bridges and knowledge exchange and it was fantastic to share ideas on how to better leverage graduates with bicultural competency.

The AVPI roundtable series provides a platform for insightful conversations aimed at strengthening the Australia-Vietnam relationship in key sectors. Thank you to Professor Jennifer Howell, PVC Global Engagement, University of Western Australia for moderating the roundtable.

Supported by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
