This AVPI Policy Briefing is from the first Australian Business Champions to Vietnam Roundtable in Melbourne, hosted by RMIT University on 26 May 2022.

It was fantastic to discuss Australia-Vietnam bilateral trade and investment opportunities with a diverse group of professionals from Victoria.

Led by our Business Champions Louise Adams, Martin Bean and Rob Gordon, this report marks the first in a series of AVPI Policy Briefings that will report on the Business Champions roundtables as they take place across Australia.

This roundtable celebrated the strong reciprocal partnership Australia and Vietnam have, building towards not just a shared economic partnership but one that reinforces prosperity and peace in the region. Upskilling of local talent and developing a current understanding of Vietnam were flagged as key priorities by the group, reflecting the groups desire to move beyond transactional, economic-focused relationships to people-centric decision-making.

The mix of businesses in the room, although discussing priorities that pertain to their sectors in a great detail during the breakout sessions, agreed on one thing; It’s time to put our best coordinated foot forward. Australia will benefit from a united front, creating opportunities for shared knowledge and mutual benefits.
